Children’s and parents’ spatial language is related to children’s spatial skills. Block playing is also associated with spatial ability. How might these phenomena interact? By examining speech during spontaneous instances of block play, we explore how blocks may encourage spatial language. We are also interested in how factors such as sex and SES relate to block play interactions.
